Ovita Terese Franz, daughter of the late Frank and Ovita Cihlar, beloved wife of Dr. Curtis Franz, mother of Christopher (Lora) and Douglas (Stephanie) Franz, M.D., loving grandmother of Keira, Casey, Olivia and Aurora Franz, fond sister of Frank Cihlar and Kevin (Laura) Cihlar, aunt to Nicholas, Alexis and Caitlin Cihlar, passed away on Jan. 7, 2019, at the age of 73.

Ovita was utterly selfless, eternally patient, a loving, attentive grandmother, a promoter of women in business and a brilliant person to friends and family.

Ovita received her BS degree summa cum laude in mathematics and physics at Loyola University, Chicago and attended graduate school in computer science at the University of Iowa.

Ovita was Director of the Intellectual Property Business at AT&T and subsequently Lucent Technologies, Bell Laboratories.Her organization licensed Bell Laboratory patents to companies worldwide.
