Letter: Universal water issues in this state
Universal water issues in this state
About our universal water issues in this county and state, I would like the Courier reporters to validate what I have observed and not got response. Our water quality results were mailed to us in the past (we are 14-year homeowners). They do not seem to be published in a timely manner. The last report had all objectionable content at the highest “acceptable” levels. The world renowned poem “Ancient Mariner” reveals “Water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink”. Many thousands of dollars have been spent on contracted studies to tell us what we already know. Our lakes are polluted and no inspections of decades-old septic systems along Granite Creek have been performed to my knowledge. I have suggested in the past that Prescott College and Yavapai College students could share a field project for water sampling and testing from Granite Creek to Willow Lake. In my college days the Chemistry and Ecology departments would jump at this opportunity. We do not need consultants, we need local involved students and city management that understands fiscal responsibility before using Prescott as a stepping-stone to a higher paying job elsewhere.
