Rants & Raves: Feb. 10, 2019

Got something on your mind? Tell us about it in 40 words or less.

  • Helicopter parent: If your 26-year-old son who lives at home is ungrateful for all you have enabled him to do, I suggest, it’s time for him to: Enlist in the military, get a job, grow up and support himself.

  • Many thanks to Gladys Knight for singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl in an appropriate manner. She did herself proud.

  • I think something you said 40 years ago was insensitive. You’ve moved on and got better informed. More inclusive and tolerant. Let’s give humans another chance.

  • Congrats on the homelessness initiative as outlined Feb. 2, 2019. However, here is a news flash for Catholic Charities advocate Lynda Bennett — individual value systems must be consistent with the overall community otherwise you have anarchy and failure.

  • Excellent commentary by Mr. J.J. Volpe. Justified criticism of out-of-control growth in Dewey also applies to what is contemplated for the Dells. The lack of transparency and comments by the mayor and council suggests the “cake has been baked!”

  • Kudos to letter writer Carla Lois on the subject of immigration policies. She nailed it. This amounts to a brief but informative civics lesson that should be embraced and defended by all Americans and those who wish to be legal citizens.

  • Since it looks like it’s open season for developers, isn’t it time for a moratorium for a year so City Council and the people of Prescott can get on the same page?

  • The Democrats want to eliminate income inequality. No problem. Socialist Venezuela has income equality. Everybody is poor.
