NAZ Suns’ slide continues; Hustle sweeps season series
NBA G League

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — The Northern Arizona Suns never got it going Friday, Feb. 8, at the Memphis Hustle, as the home team won the game handily, 118-89.

The Suns (7-31 record) lost their fourth consecutive game, including their fourth straight on the road, with the loss at the Landers Center in Southaven, Mississippi. The Hustle (19-16) have now won consecutive games after dropping four straight. Memphis’ win Friday night means a three-game season-series sweep over Northern Arizona.

The Suns lost in wire-to-wire fashion, trailing by as many as 36 points in the fourth quarter.

Retin Obasohan scored his third 20-plus-point game of the season with 22 points on 7 of 11 shooting (7 of 10 free throws) to go with five assists, two steals and a block. He was one of three Suns to score in double figures, joined by Hollis Thompson (14 points, six rebounds, five assists) and George King (13 points).

Although the Suns were efficient from the free-throw line Friday, converting 28 of 35 (80 percent), they couldn’t buy one from the field, finishing 27 of 76 (35.5 percent). The Hustle, meanwhile, went 47 of 86 (55 percent) from the field, including 8 of 19 (42 percent) from beyond the arc. Memphis out-rebounded Northern Arizona, 50-35, and outscored the Suns in the paint, 66-32.

Dusty Hannahs and Markel Crawford led Memphis with 18 points apiece. Six Hustle players scored in double figures, while Kyle Casey grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds to go with seven points.

The Suns have only three road games remaining the rest of the season. They return home for one game before the All-Star Break with a matchup against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12.

The Hustle will play the second game of a back-to-back set on the road at the Texas Legends at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9.
