Johnie E. Brackman, 83, was born Feb. 2, 1936, in Normal, Illinois, and passed peacefully Aug. 28, 2019, at Marley House in Prescott, Arizona. He was the only child of John A. and Mary L. (Collins) Brackman.
John graduated from Normal Community High School in 1954 and played one year of college football. He worked for General Telephone in Illinois and Arizona, eventually making his way to Prescott in 1972.
In 1979 John proudly opened Brackman’s Paint and Body. He meticulously repaired and maintained vehicles until his retirement in 2005.
Throughout his life, John was an avid fisherman and golfer. Many photos can be found of John holding a big fish. In his later years, though, he took hold of the clubs and could be found on the greens throughout the week.
John leaves a daughter, Debbie (Devin) Kanapilly of Tucumcari, New Mexico; two stepdaughters; five grandchildren; an aunt, Dana DeNoble of Madison, Wisconsin; Myrlon, Sherry, Cyndi and other close friends.
Please join us for a celebration Sunday, Sept. 1, at 2 p.m. at Brackman’s Paint & Body, 700 W. Hillside, Prescott, Arizona. Donations can be made in honor of John to Marley House Hospice.
