Letter: We need gun control
How many deaths? How much grieving can this country bear? Will Congress remain tone deaf to the will of the American people? Will Mitch McConnell continue to stonewall common-sense gun regulations and background checks? How long will Congress remain beholden to the NRA because of campaign contributions to keep weapons on our streets? How many more children must die? How many innocents will be killed before something meaningful is done to end the scourge of gun violence?
This is not a partisan issue. This is not political fodder for our president to manipulates statistics and honest commentary to his own ends. This is not a time for partisan attacks that demean America and pull her asunder.
This is a time for our nation to come together and heal for the sake of our country, our citizens, and our standing in the world. This is a time for our moral decay to be addressed. This is a time for Congress to cancel their recess and address this national emergency with common sense gun control laws and background checks which 70% of Americans support and demand. Hollow words from our president will never ring true.
