Detectives with the Prescott Valley Police Department apprehended a male subject earlier this week who had been in contact with an undercover detective posing as a 16-year-old female via Facebook, according to a press release Thursday afternoon.

The male subject, 63-year-old Paul Fagan, had reached out via Facebook and engaged in conversation with the undercover detective.

The conversation lasted approximately a week before he started sending explicate photos and talked about meeting the female, even after learning she was “underage.”

Fagan was a prior offender of attempted sexual abuse of a minor and was a registered sex offender.

He was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 13, at approximately 11:30 a.m. and booked into Yavapai County jail on charges of luring a minor for sexual exploitation, aggravated luring of a minor for sexual exploitation and failure to register as a sex offender.

“The Prescott Valley Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind parents to be aware and talk to your kids about who they talk to via social media and monitor your kids’ social media activity,” Prescott Valley Police spokesperson Jerry Ferguson said Thursday.
