Obituary: Dr. Ron L. Harvey

Dr. Ron L. Harvey passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on Saturday, April 20, 2019, holding his wife’s hand.

He leaves behind his wife, Alissa; son, Ron and daughter in-law Jennifer; grandkids Eli and Kira and daughter Adie Harvey; and beloved dog, Doughal.

He was a pathologist, father, grandpa, husband, world traveler, lover of classic cars, dogs, good jokes and great stories. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1943, and grew up as the oldest of three boys with his brothers, Don Jr. and Dale.

He studied medicine at the University of Arizona and University of New Mexico, before moving to Japan to serve on the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission in 1973 for the Public Health Service. Two years later, he relocated as a pathologist in Palm Springs for 14 years before moving the family to Prescott in 1990. There he served as pathologist and County Medical Examiner at YRMC up until his first retirement in 2001. He went on to achieve an MBA in Hospital Administration and continued to practice part-time in other hospitals and labs around the state, as well as serving on the Board of both YRMC and West Yavapai Guidance Clinic.

In all those years, he and his wife visited 79 countries on seven continents.

He recently celebrated his 50th anniversary with the love of his life, Alissa. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations in his name be made to Valles Caldera National Preserve in northern New Mexico or The Yavapai Humane Society.

His Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at the Rock House in Camp Verde. Please contact the family for more information.
