Woman gets locked inside Texas Walmart garden center

GALVESTON, Texas — Sarah Luke was shopping at a Galveston, Texas Walmart for some laryngitis medication but decided to step out into the garden center for a moment, but then the door got locked.

"I thought [an employee] saw me, but I was also wearing a green sweatshirt," Luke told KTRK-TV. "Maybe I blended in with the plants, but he or she, don't really know [they] locked me in."

Luke tried pounding on the door, but because of her laryngitis she wasn't able to yell for help. She used her phone to contact her mother and asked her to get ahold of the front desk. Then Luke called the Galveston Police Department.

When officers arrived they located the assistant manager to finally unlock the doors about an hour later.

"The assistant manager assured me that it was not her who locked me in," Luke said. "The police officers started talking to [the assistant manager] about how they need a more thorough walkthrough before locking the doors."

To apologize, Walmart gave Luke a free plant from the garden center and a gift card.
