Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be April 20 at the Cordes Lakes Community Center, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive, starting at 9 a.m. for ages 1 to 3; 9:30 for 4 to 7; and 10 a.m. for 8 to 10.
Food Program will be on April 17 and 25. Sign-up starts at 7 a.m. and the doors close and lock at 9 a.m. at the Community Center.
Free Dump Days will be April 18, 19, and 20 then April 25, 26, 27 at the Mayer Transfer Station. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bagged trash only – no liquids or hazardous materials. Will take yard trimmings, furniture, household appliances.
Volunteers are needed to help with events. If you are able and willing to help with planning, preparing and clean-up after events, please call 928-632-9769.
A notary is available during regular library hours at the Cordes Lakes Library.
Neighborhood Watch bake sale is April 20 from 8 a.m. to noon – or until the goodies are gone. This will be in front of the Spring Valley Pharmacy.
Movie Night will be April 26 and sponsored by Spring Valley HOA and the Library. Doors open at 6 p.m. and movie starts at 7. The movie is “The Giver,” starring Jeff Bridges, Lloyd Bridges, Taylor Swift and Meryl Streep; rated PG-13. Donations gratefully accepted. Snacks will be available along with the bake sale.
Shred-A-Thon will take place at the Spring Valley Community Church, 13995 S. Spring Lane, on May 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Up to four bankers boxes (medium sized boxes) shredded on-site for free. Additional boxes shredded for $10 fee payable in cash.
The monthly spaghetti dinner at Meals on Wheels is canceled for this month; it falls on Easter Sunday.
Dump Days are here again on April 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27. This is at the transfer station at 11130 Antelope Creek Road, one-quarter mile south of Mayer. Bagged trash only, no liquids or hazardous materials. Will take yard trimmings, furniture, household appliances.
Mayer Area Meals on Wheels Walkathon will be held April 27 at 9 a.m. A pancake and sausage breakfast will be starting at 8 a.m. Many prizes and surprises, so get your registration and sponsor sheets at Mayer Area Meals on Wheels, 10051 S. Miami in Mayer, or call 928-632-7511.
The annual Mother’s Day Plant Sale is gearing up and plants will be available from April 29 to May 10. There will be a drawing for a goodie basket at 12:30 p.m. on May 10. Get your raffle tickets at Meals on Wheels. Plants can be pre-ordered so contact MOW to do this.
Casino Night will be coming to Meals on Wheels on May 18 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be Black Jack, Poker, Texas Hold-em along with pastries, coffee, iced tea. Chips are $10 for 20 chips. Prize table has a variety of times to get with your winning chips. We have a singing dealer for your entertainment. Drawings for an adult (over 21) goodie basket and a regular goodie basket.
The American Legion is preparing to celebrate its 100-year anniversary. All posts in Yavapai County are combining to have an event open to the public to make people aware of the American Legion and what it does for their neighborhoods. One will be held at Camp Verde Community Park, 473 Main in Camp Verde on April 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and posts on this side of the county will be represented. Then on May 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Prescott side will hold its event at Mountain Valley Park in Prescott Valley. These events are free and there will be bands, games, food and fun, so plan to attend to learn more about the American Legion.
U.S. Flag retirement – A bin has been placed at the Mayer St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store (open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday) for worn U.S. flags. They will be collected by American Legion Post 122 and retired with dignity. If you have a flag ready to be retired, please take it to the Thrift Store.
Bingo is held every Wednesday at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. with sandwiches and snacks available.
Taco Tuesday at the Center is from 4 to 6:30 p.m. to either eat there or takeout. American Legion meets at 1 p.m. the third Friday of the month at Cordes Lakes Community Center. This is an open meeting and all are welcome.
Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts meet at the church at 17330 E. Mule Deer Drive in Spring Valley at 6 p.m. every Wednesday. Scouts learn new skills by earning badges, enjoy camping, hiking, and much more. Contact Garrison Russell at 702-439-7316 for more information or to join.

Big Bug Gem & Mineral Club holds its outings on the third Monday of the month with meetings held the following Tuesday at 7 p.m. at various members’ homes. Contact Ken Dunham at 928-899-6810 for more information. Meetings are held at member’s homes and varies by month.
Mayer Fire has its open board meetings at 5 p.m. the third Wednesday of the month at the main location, 11975 S. Highway 69.
Spring Valley Homeowners meet the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the building behind the Spring Valley Church on Spring Lane, 13955 S. Spring Lane.
Meals on Wheels Spaghetti Dinner is held at 10051 S. Miami, on the third Sunday of every month from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. for $8 per person.
