Letter: Mueller Report
Two days after the release of the long-awaited Mueller Report, which Democrats have been insisting would be the ultimate decider of the innocence or guilt of our president as a Russian stooge, there seems to be strange reactions from the left.
The reaction is either a pivot away from collusion to obstruction, an insistence that they had been correct all along, and never mind those annoying videos where statements were made about Trump’s sure guilt, the release of the Mueller Report just a formality, or plain silence.
The latter seems to be the case with “award winning” Courier column contributor John Micek who puts not a word about the good news that our president is not a Russian agent, but instead devotes his entire column to the swift action by New Zealand to put additional restrictions on the rights of their citizens to own certain types of weapons and the unfortunate fact that the United States has a Second Amendment restricting the state’s ability to conduct outright confiscation in our country.
The other column that appeared was from Patrick Leyden, who also must have slept through the great news about our president, and instead manages to twist what should be universally great news and make Trump the fall guy for the very criminal behavior directed against him by the deep state. According to Leyden, the deep state is a product of Trump, and by implication the political forces unleashed against this president and his supporters is completely understandable and justified.
As a young man, I used to enjoy watching “Star Trek.” Space travel, time travel, everything you could imagine was possible with the Starship Enterprise. I wonder if Patrick Leyden and John Micek are recent passengers from another galaxy far far away.
