Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be Saturday, April 20, at the Cordes Lakes Community Center, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive, starting at 9 a.m. for ages 1 to 3; 9:30 for 4 to 7; and 10 a.m. for 8 to 10.
Free Dump Days will be April 18, 19, and 20 then April 25, 26, 27 at the Mayer Transfer Station. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bagged trash only – no liquids or hazardous materials. Will take yard trimmings, furniture, household appliances.
Volunteers are needed to help with events. If you are able and willing to help with planning, preparing and clean-up after events, please call 928-632-9769 and leave your name and phone number. Events cannot be held without volunteer help.
A notary is available during regular library hours at the Cordes Lakes Library.
The library is up and running and has many amenities. Check it out.
April 16 is Hospice of the Pines Five Wishes Program at 10:30 a.m. at the Spring Valley Library, 17320 Mule Deer Drive. Bring your questions.
Neighborhood Watch bake sale is from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 20, or until the goodies are gone. This will be in front of the Spring Valley Pharmacy, so shop early to get the best selection.
Movie Night will be April 26 and sponsored by Spring Valley HOA and the Library. Doors open at 6 p.m. and movie starts at 7. Movie is “The Giver,” starring Jeff Bridges, Lloyd Bridges, Taylor Swift and Meryl Streep, rated PG 13. Donations gratefully accepted. Snacks will be available along with the bake sale.
Shred-A-Thon will take place at the Spring Valley Community Church, 13995 S. Spring Lane, on May 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Up to four bankers boxes (medium sized boxes) shredded on-site for free. Additional boxes shredded for $10 fee payable in cash.
Mayer Community Church, 10001 S. Fifth in Mayer, is presenting a Seder Dinner on April 12 where we learn more about Christianity’s Jewish roots. Reservations required and this is a potluck. Call Joyce at 480-244-6767 to reserve your space and find out what is still needed for the potluck.
CANCELLATION - PLEASE NOTE: The monthly spaghetti dinner held at Meals on Wheels on the third Sunday of the month is canceled. This falls on Easter Sunday and the employees and volunteers are taking the day off to be with their families.

Mayer Area Meals on Wheels Walkathon will be held April 27 at 9 a.m. A pancake-and-sausage breakfast will be starting at 8 a.m. Many prizes and surprises, so get your registration and sponsor sheets at Mayer Area Meals on Wheels, 10051 S. Miami in Mayer, or call 928-632-7511.
The annual Mother’s Day Plant sale is gearing up and plants will be available from April 29 to May 10. There will be a drawing for a goodie basket at 12:30 p.m. on May 10. Get your tickets for the drawing at Meals on Wheels. Plants can be pre-ordered so contact MOW to do this.
Casino Night will be coming to Meals on Wheels on May 18 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be Black Jack, Poker, Texas Hold-em along with pastries, coffee, iced tea. Chips are $10 for 20 chips. Prize table has a variety of times to get with our winning chips. We have a singing dealer for your entertainment. Drawings for an adult (older than 21) goodie basket and a regular goodie basket.
Mayer Area Meals on Wheels now has ice for sale at $1 per bag.
The American Legion is preparing to celebrate its 100-year anniversary. All posts in Yavapai County are combining to have an event open to the public to make people aware of the American Legion and what it does for their neighborhoods. One will be held at Camp Verde Community Park, 473 Main in Camp Verde, on April 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and posts on this side of the county will be represented. Then on May 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Prescott side will hold its event at Mountain Valley Park in Prescott Valley. These events are free and there will be bands, games, food and fun, so plan to attend to learn more about the American Legion.
U.S. Flag retirement – A bin has been placed at the Mayer St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store (open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday) for worn U.S. flags. They will be collected by American Legion Post 122 and retired with dignity. If you have a flag ready to be retired, please take it to the Thrift Store.
