Culpepper & Merriweather Circus is coming to Paulden.

The circus is an authentic One-Ring, Big Top Circus that’s been featured in The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, Arizona Highways Magazine, on the A&E special “Under the Big Top” and Nickelodeon’s “On the Road with Circus Kids.”

The 2019 Paulden Area Community Organization fundraiser, the lot behind Ace Hardware, 23990 N. Marblehead Ave., will be transformed into a bustling Circus City Thursday, April 18, according to a news release from the circus. The Big Top is erected between 9:30 and 10 a.m. followed by a free tour.

“This presentation offers a unique face-to-face opportunity for families, schools, and interested community members to meet and learn all about the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus family and includes a walking tour of the circus grounds,” the news release states. “Learn interesting facts about our performers, the history of our show and the different species of animals in our circus family.”

The tour will also address hygiene, grooming and the veterinary care the circus’ animals receive and is presented in a way that everyone can learn something about.

The tent raising and tour are followed by the Midway opening at 4 p.m., featuring pony rides, a moonbounce, concessions and more, and two shows at 5 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, $7 for seniors and children ages 2 to 12 in advance; and $15 for adults and $8 for seniors and children at the door. Children 2 and younger get in free.

The lineup for the circus includes Miss Simone and her single trapeze, Miss Paulina and her prancing ponies, the Arlise Troupe on their unicycles, Natalie’s American Eskimo Escapades, Miss Georgia’s flexibility, the Wheel of Destiny and Tight Rope by the Perez Family, and Mr. Trey Key and his Jungle Cats Soloman, Delilah and Francis.

“Our performers are sure to amaze, delight and entertain the audience members of all ages beyond your wildest imagination,” the release states. “The costumes alone are certainly of Las Vegas quality.”

Advance tickets can be purchase at Paulden Ace Hardware, Gilpin’s RV Park, 23301 Highway 89, or at American Family Insurance, 48 N. Highway 89 Unit B, or by calling 1-866-244-8676. For more information, visit www.cmcircus.com.
