Distracted driving

“Distracted Driving;” the tragic consequences of this habit should be clear to everyone. I am appalled at my first-person observation of this practice every day. Many of the drivers of the dump trucks and excavators and contractor delivery vehicles and (sorry to say) the white city vehicles are on their hand-held devices for communication or GPS information that could certainly be obtained if safely parked for that purpose. These are not emergency response folks and multi-ton vehicles clearly present a greater hazard than a passenger car. A re-training class for your employees and some evident enforcement of existing ordinances would prevent any more of the horrific incidents in this city. Any work people need to accomplish cannot be worth one life. Thanks for listening; I hope you are.
