Ralph Edwin Onnen

Ralph Edwin Onnen was born April 19, 1922, in Morris, Minnesota, to Christ John Onnen and Gertrude Pauline Long. He died March 29, 2019, in Cottonwood, Arizona. Ralph served our country during WWII in the U.S. Navy, honorably discharged in November 1945 as a 1st Class Carpenter’s Mate in San Pedro, California.

He owned a dairy farm in Minnesota, and retired from US Motors in Prescott; after that he was the caretaker at the Gun Club in Prescott Valley and a greeter at Wal-Mart. He traveled in his travel trailer for several years before settling down in Cottonwood.

He was very family oriented to his children, brother, sisters, grandchildren and great-children. Ralph was an active member of the American Legion and enjoyed dancing. Ralph is survived by seven children, Dennis (Geri), Gary (Cheryl), Linda, Bonnie, Shelia (Gary), Bradley (Leslie), and Pauline; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Betty Christenson; brother, Donal Onnen; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service with military honors will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Heritage Memory Mortuary at 131 Grove Ave., in Prescott, followed by a reception at American Lutheran Church at 1085 Scott Drive in Prescott.
