On 18 September 2018, Winifred Mary Middlemore completed her journey to heaven surrounded by the love of her family. She was 84 years old and lived a full life, with many joys and sorrows; mostly joys … a whole boatload of them.

Winifred married the love of her life, David Edward Middlemore, in 1954. They had eight children, adopted David’s sister’s daughter, and raised another boy who came home from school with one of their sons, because there’s just always room for one more. Together they sacrificed greatly to raise the souls entrusted to them the best they could. They did an outstanding job. They became the proud grandparents to: 31 grandchildren, including eight granddaughters, 23 grandsons; seven great-grandchildren, including two great-granddaughters, five great-grandsons, and another great-grandchild on the way, which to the chagrin of the granddaughters, will be another boy.

Winifred loved people, especially her friends and family. She would take every opportunity to visit them or communicate with them by mail or telephone. Before the advent of the cordless telephone, when she was baking (a loved hobby), her kitchen was considered an extreme entanglement/tripping hazard. Winifred cherished visits with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her nieces and nephews, and would always take the opportunity to play a prank on any of them, which usually involved a few fake spiders. Her love for all of her children was her life. It was a task she worked and struggled for until she took her last breath. It is a task she will now continue from heaven. She fought the good fight and may her soul rest in eternal peace.

Winifred was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David; her brother, James Michael McGhee; and her grandson, Ryan Thomas Dismukes. She is survived by her children: Karen Dismukes (sp John), Rebecca Middlemore (sp Gary Hall), Paul Middlemore (sp Elizabeth), Marianne Ingle, Kathleen Ordway (sp Robert), Lynn Bonaparte (sp Richard), Raymond DeGeir (sp Evelyn), Robert Middlemore (sp Janice), Margaret Needham (sp Eric), John Middlemore (sp Shawndra); grandchildren: Christy Quihuis (sp Robert), Christopher Mendoza, Phillip Mendoza (sp Erin), Richard Bonaparte (sp Jennifer), Aaron Ordway, David Middlemore (sp Meghan), Adrian Mendoza, Patrick Mendoza, Thomas Middlemore (sp Kelly), Brianne Gunther (sp Ian), Darren Bonaparte, Tessa Mendoza, Jon Middlemore (sp Elizabeth), Michael Middlemore, Brother Cajetan (Joseph Middlemore), Elizabeth Middlemore, Peter Middlemore, Brent Ingle, Matthew Needham, James Albert Middlemore, Tyler DeGier, Michael Needham, Carolyn Middlemore, Steven Middlemore, James Thomas Middlemore, Teresa Middlemore, William Middlemore, Emily Middlemore, Angela Middlemore, Robert Joseph Middlemore; great-grandchildren: Aiden Bonaparte, Elliana Bonaparte, Alice Mendoza-Bakos, Jude Middlemore, Sterling Middlemore, Blaze Middlemore, Oliver Middlemore and soon to be, Staten Michael Middlemore.

An open casket vigil will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, at Ruffner-Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St., Prescott, Arizona. At 10 a.m Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, a Requiem Mass will be held at the Mission Santa Maria, SSPX 12028 E. Turquoise Circle, Dewey, Arizona. May Winifred rest in peace.
