Rants & Raves: Sept. 2, 2018

Got something on your mind? Tell us about it in 40 words or less.

  • Thanks to Mike Vax and band for a great jazz concert at the Elks. Too bad, though, about several people in audience around us talking out loud through the whole concert and checking cell phones.

  • A salute to John McCain, a true American hero and patriot, who never once toadied to that useless crew in Washington, D.C. He will be missed.

  • John McCain became more compassionate later in life. Same for me. Sure wish it would have kicked in earlier for me. Love you, Mr. McCain.

  • John McCain wasn’t Republican or Democrat. He was a pragmatic American.

  • Ever awoken at 6 a.m. and listen to the ravens, just a barking away. The airways are more open at that hour and they’re taking advantage.

  • Stop calling us Democrats, socialists. We’re NOT. We are capitalists as much as you are. We lean to the left, but are still a capitalist. So there.

  • New Prescott Animal Hospital building is a very good example of Post Modern architecture. My complements to the architect(s).

  • To the folks who complained about how educators and students dress, bruh. Seriously? We’re focused on education; not fashion. The next time you need a nurse, car mechanic, accountant, etc. … please remember that.

  • The big picture behind AzMerit test scores: the public school system is an expensive failure. Far better to give tax credits to parents and let them decide how and where to educate their children.

  • Jay Leno put on a great show the other night. The extra plus was the performance by On The Rocks, a local group that was fantastic!

  • We mark our wars with roman numerals – to keep the public in the dark. Our military requires 61 percent of our national budget. Will it, ever descend? When will a nation filled with paranoia find a way out of debt?

  • What a coincidence, Ted Kennedy and John McCain died from the same cancer on the same day.

  • City leaders say that Prescott is now a regional airport. So why aren’t Prescott Valley and neighboring communities contributing to the $1.8 million in Prescott’s subsidies planned for the airport this fiscal year – paid by Prescott taxpayers?

  • Now that John McCain has left the state of Arizona never to return. Who do we look up to now?
