Last Meeting: Mingus 38, Prescott 6 (Oct. 6, 2017, in Prescott, Ariz.)
The Setting: Friday night’s contest is a winner-take-all event, pitting two storied football clubs against one another once again in 2018. Last season, the Badgers missed out on their first playoff appearance since 2012 after finishing No. 16 in the rankings, but were bumped out of a playoff spot by the Marauders, who claimed the region title with a 5-1 record. Mingus owned the tiebreaker with a 38-6 win in Prescott, and the Badgers have been itching to get back at the club from Cottonwood ever since. Friday night’s game in Prescott will be for the 2018 Grand Canyon region title, and the automatic bid to the 4A state playoffs that comes with it. With both clubs in the top 12, the loser stands a chance at receiving an at-large bid to state, but the AIA is not scheduled to reveal brackets until Saturday.
