Obituary: Raymond (Ray) Navarro
Raymond (Ray) Navarro, 99, our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many, was called by our Lord on Oct. 13, 2018. Ray was born Feb. 9, 1919, in Flagstaff, Arizona, to Ramon and Isabel Torres Navarro.
He married the love of his life, Adela Navarro, his wife of 67 years. He is survived by his children, Rudy Navarro (Delores) and Rosemarie Trevino (Peter). Also, two grandsons, Rudy Navarro and Randy Navarro (Margaret), four great-grandchildren, Victor, Victoria, Desiree, and Anthony Navarro.
He was drafted into the Navy on May 19, 1944, and served as a Radio Specialist aboard the USS-SPC 23, a small all-purpose ship patrolling the waters of the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 26, 1946. He was in Buckner Bay off Okinawa when World War II ended.
He and his wife, Adela, moved to Prescott in 1998. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Services will held, Oct. 26, 2018, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Flagstaff, Arizona. The rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. followed by the funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Prescott Meals on Wheels or Prescott Maggie’s Hospice.
