Fire crews responded to a medical emergency and hazardous materials (HAZMAT) incident at Superior Industries in Prescott Valley Tuesday morning, Oct. 16.
One worker at the manufacturing facility was transported to Yavapai Regional Medical Center’s Prescott Valley campus and treated there for non-life threatening injuries after being exposed to a chemical spill.
The Prescott Area Hazardous Materials Response Team (PAHMRT), comprised of members from both Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority and Prescott Fire Department, was called to mitigate the spill and remove the hazard.
The incident commander worked with the onsite facility supervisors to devise a safe mitigation plan. Entry and back up teams were assembled so that the spill could be taken care of by PAHMRT hazmat technicians. Employees on site were moved to other areas of the facility where they could safely continue working.
The spill was contained and the hazard properly disposed of. The scene was turned back over to the facility’s responsible party.
Response included three engines, one HAZMAT response unit, one battalion chief and two Life Line ambulances.
