Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public's help identifying a man and woman suspected of using counterfeit money at a Family Dollar store in Cordes Lake on Saturday night.
According to YCSO, the couple came into the store on E Hitching Post around 6:30 p.m. They made separate purchases at the register, each paying with a counterfeit $100 bill.
The register employee was initially unsure of the authenticity of the currency until a supervisor confirmed the bills were fake. Deputies also confirmed the bills were counterfeit based on missing security features.
The female suspect told the clerk they were from Phoenix, heading toward Prescott Valley.
Both suspects can be seen on surveillance video footage carrying multiple hundred dollar bills in their wallets.
The male suspect is Caucasian, 6 feet tall with gray buzzed hair and a goatee. He was wearing a black jacket.
The female suspect is 5-foot-5 with dark skin and bleached-blonde shoulder-length hair. She was wearing a black shirt and black athletic pants.
The suspect’s vehicle was not seen.
Anyone with information about the identity or whereabouts of these suspects is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 928-771-3260 or report a tip anonymously to Yavapai Silent Witness at 800-932-3232.
