Trinity Christian takes 1st at Mile-High invite
PRESCOTT — Trinity Christian’s boys’ cross-country team placed first out of 17 Canyon Athletic Association (CAA) high schools at the Trinity Mile-High Cross-Country Invitational Sept. 29 in Prescott, tallying a team score of 70 points.
At Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s course, Heritage Queen Creek finished second with 84 points, and Madison Highland Prep took third with 109.
For Trinity Christian, senior Trenton Stafford led the pack, placing second overall with a time of 19 minutes and 52 seconds.
Freshmen Josiah Kottman (12th, 21:42) and Jacob Roundy (16th, 22:04), senior Cole Randolph (17th, 22:09), sophomore Nathan Stafford (23rd, 22:50), and juniors Eli Timm (30th, 23:38) and Shayne Scates (36th, 24:04) rounded out the finishers for the hosts.
On the girls’ side, Trinity placed third out of 14 CAA high schools with a team score of 59 points.
Arizona School for the Arts won the meet with 35 points, followed by runner-up BASIS Scottsdale, which notched 49.
For Trinity Christian, freshman Karis Orr paced the Warriors, finishing fifth overall in 25:30. Junior Jesse Hix (11th, 29:01), sophomore Madison Orr (13th, 29:28), freshman Brooke Coyl (14th, 29:33) and junior Bethany Kottman (18th, 30:49) also fared well for the hosts.
