A man was found unresponsive in a green pickup truck that apparently veered off Williamson Valley Road and collided with a number of objects before coming to a stop Monday afternoon, Nov. 26.

Paramedics were unable to revive a man found unresponsive in a vehicle that veered off Williamson Valley Road and crashed into a number of objects Monday afternoon, Nov. 26.

Just after 1:30 p.m., an anonymous caller reported seeing the crashed occupied vehicle near McIntosh Road in Prescott, said Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) spokesperson Dwight D’Evelyn.

When YCSO deputies arrived, personnel with the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority were already on scene providing CPR to the driver, D’Evelyn said. The man was identified as Michael Black, 80, from Chino Valley. The vehicle was a green 1993 GMC pickup.

Deputies learned that Black was driving south on Williamson Valley Road and possibly suffered an unknown medical problem that caused him to drive off the west side of the road. His vehicle struck a road construction sign, a small oak tree, and eventually collided with a larger tree before coming to rest.

Paramedics eventually declared Black dead at the scene.

“An autopsy is pending to determine cause of death,” D’Evelyn said. “Several witnesses provided information and the investigation remains active.”
