Irish Dancing Christmas returns to Elks

Award-winning Irish Dancers are returning to the Prescott Elks Theatre and Performing Arts Center for two shows this weekend in “An Irish Christmas.”

Last year was the first time the show — put on by Kerry Irish Productions — came to Prescott and it sold out, said Producer Margaret O’Carroll. Earlier this year, O’Carroll said it was such a hit she made the decision to have Prescott as a stop-off point on tours. It’s a lovely area full of lovely people and she loves the atmosphere of the venue, she said.

Since it sold out last year, they decided to put on two showings, one at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, and another at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24.

As a nationally touring show, “An Irish Christmas” is upgraded to a degree every year with different Christmas carols, new choreography and different leading men and women, O’Carroll said.

“There’s a lot of subtle changes, I would call them,” she said.

This year, the stars are Riverdance principal dancer Caterina Coyne, world champion dancer Tyler Schwartz and Connor Reider. It’s a high quality show with a superb vocal team and musicians, O’Carroll said, noting that Kerry Irish Productions goes for and works with the best which means the show has the best.

Tickets are $35 for adults, $25 for seniors, $20 for youth 18 and younger, and $45 for opera box seats; they can be purchased online at, by calling 928-777-1370 or at the door one hour prior to the performance.

“An Irish Christmas” is a popular show all over the nation, bringing audiences a view of Christmas from an Irish perspective without being stereotypical, O’Carroll said.

“No shamrockery, which I can’t’ stand,” she said. “We’re bout quality in the real Ireland.”

It also brings joy, something that’s needed in considerable amount these days, O’Carroll said.
