HERINGTON, Kansas — The old adage "clever like a fox" has new meaning to a Kansas woman who filmed an unusually clever fox trying to deliberately open the door of her shop.

Sally Catlin of Herington posted video on Facebook Monday of a fox trying to open the back door of her business moments after she and her dog fled inside to escape the animal.

Catlin's dog, Ellie, had an altercation with the Fox a day earlier, and then it returned to the shop the next day appearing aggressive.

According to Catlin's Facebook post, the fox had attacked Ellie twice in the past, so after the nearly successful door entry she called the police.

"We live on the edge of town and have acres behind us and we do see foxes cross back there into a wooded area also every year," Catlin told KWCH-TV. "But I've never seen one this close and not afraid of people at all, and actually fighting with the other animals."

A local game warden was contacted and traps are reportedly being set to capture the animal and test it for rabies.
