Anna Louise Garlock

Anna Louise Garlock (formerly of Prescott, Arizona) passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, after an extended illness during which time she was surrounded and comforted by her loving and devoted family and friends.

She was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma, on Sept. 12, 1922, to Henry and Della Mable Splawn Burkhart. Louise was the middle daughter of three girls and when she was 11 years old, her mother died and a couple named Grandma and her husband, Pawdaddy, stepped in and helped Henry raise the girls. The Harrises owns a small café and the girls would go there after school and work for 25 cents a day. Louise graduated from Chickasha High School and moved to Yuma, Arizona, in 1940, and lived there for nine years. After her husband, Frank Waitkus, died in 1947, she moved with her small son, Frank Stanley Waitkus, to Los Angeles, California. She attended the California Institute of Medical Technology, where she graduated with high honors as a Medical Assistant and X-Ray Technician.

In 1950, she was employed by a doctor of Internal Medicine and was employed by the same doctor for 25 years. For the next 10 years, she worked with her son in his business, Electronic Product Testing, Inc., as the Corporate Secretary. On Aug. 26, 1955, she was married to Ralph Garlock, who was a postal employee. When Ralph retired in 1984, they moved to Prescott, Arizona. Ralph died in 1986.

She was predeceased by her two husbands, Frank and Ralph; her son, Frank; her sisters, Doris and Virginia; and her grandnephew, Andrew. She is survived by her grandson, Joseph; her nieces, Darlene, Sandra and Melba; her three nephews, Rick, Ron and Donald; and her many great-nieces and nephews.

Her services will be held at the Heritage Arrowhead Funeral Center in Glendale, Arizona, on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Andrew Epstein Endowment Scholarship Fund. http://andrewepsteinendowmentscholarshipfund@universityofwashingtonmedicalschool or Alzheimer’s Association, 340 E.
