Cordes Calendar: Week of Nov. 7

CORDES LAKES

Tuesday Planners are back. Each Tuesday at 10 a.m. the planners will meet at the Community Center, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive to plan for events, such as Cookies with Santa. All are welcome and volunteers are needed.

Community Association General Meeting is 7 p.m. Nov. 8 at 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive. Guest speaker is Tom Thurman who will give us an update on happenings in the community. This is NOT a question-and-answer session.

Flea Market and Art Sale will be held at the Cordes Junction Visitor’s Center from 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 10. This is sponsored by High Desert Heritage Museum and in addition to the flea market, they will have a 10 percent off sale from local artists. There will be a fine arts raffle with the drawing at noon. The annual meeting will be from noon to 1 p.m. and it is open to all. To rent space or for more information call 928-632-4633.

Flag Raising — Help American Legion Post 122 raise the flags on Nov. 11 at 8 a.m, and take them down at 4 p.m. for Veterans Day.

Produce — Nov. 21 and 29. Sign-up starts at 7 a.m. and doors close at 9 a.m, at the Community center, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive.

Craft Sale will be held Dec. 8. Tables are $20, please contact June at 928-899-3150 to reserve your table. This is NOT a yard sale, just items for gifting.

Dec. 15 is Cookies with Santa. Please contact Judy if you can help with this event. We need a parade coordinator, cookie donations, help with the craft tables for children, etc.

SPRING VALLEY

MAYER

Mayer Fire Board will hold its monthly meeting at 5 p.m. Nov. 14 at 11975 S. Highway 69. The meeting was moved up one week to avoid the Thanksgiving holiday.

Christmas Bazaar hosted by MOPS will be Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16 and 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. This will be at 13305 Central Avenue, across from the Ladies & Gents Styling Salon. There will be handmade gifts, homemade baked goods, hot cider and good company.

Meals on Wheels, 10051 Miami, holds its Spaghetti Dinner on the third Sunday of each month, so Nov. 18 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. dinner will be served for $8.00 per person.

Thanksgiving Dinner at Meals on Wheels, 10051 S. Miami, will be served at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 21 (Wednesday) followed by the annual pie auction.

U.S. Flag retirement — A bin has been placed at the Mayer St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store (open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday) for worn U.S. flags. They will be collected by American Legion Post 122 and retired with dignity. If you have a flag ready to be retired, please take it to the Thrift Store.

WEEKLY EVENTS

CORDES LAKES

Bingo is held every Wednesday at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. with sandwiches and snacks available.

Taco Tuesday at the Center is from 4 to 7 p.m. to either eat there or take-out.

Story Time at Cordes Lakes Library is at 10:30 a.m. every Saturday. This is followed by a movie.

American Legion meets at 1 p.m. the third Friday of the month at Cordes Lakes Community Center. Next meeting is September 21.

SPRING VALLEY

Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts meet at the church at 17330 E. Mule Deer Drive in Spring Valley at 6 p.m. every Wednesday. Scouts learn new skills by earning badges, enjoy camping, hiking, and much more. Contact Garrison Russell at 702-439-7316 for more in-formation or to join.

MAYER

Big Bug Charity Quilters meet from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every Monday at the Mayer Senior Center, 10051 Miami. Beading is held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Call MOW at 928-632-7511 for more information.

MOPS meets the first and third Fridays at the Mayer Community Church, 10001 Fifth St. in Mayer.

Knit & Crochet meets at 9:30 a.m. Thursdays at Flour Stone Bakery in Mayer. This is for everyone, beginners and advanced. Bring your own project and supplies, help is here.

MONTHLY EVENTS

Big Bug Gem & Mineral Club holds its outings on the third Monday of the month with meetings held the following Tuesday at 7 p.m. at various members’ homes. Contact Ken Dunham at 928-899-6810 for more information. Meetings are held at member’s homes and varies by month.
