Letter: Stand for love

Editor:

The world is losing its mind! How long before no one trusts anyone else? I am reminded of the poem by German Lutheran Pastor Martin Niemoller, who wrote:

“First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out because I was not a Trade Unionist, then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew, then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me.”

These poetic words should resonate with all of us who pray for peace and civility.

May our elected leaders not have to worry about bombs ever again, may the families of the victims from Pittsburgh Tree of Life synagogue be strong and able to forgive, and may all humanity once again remember the love required between brothers and sisters.
