National Trails Day in Prescott
Volunteers construct a turn through a rock garden as more than 50 volunteers came out to the Spence Basin trail system to help the Prescott National Forest as part of National Trails Day on Saturday, May 19, 2018, in Prescott. Bradshaw and Chino Valley District Ranger Sarah Tomsky said, “National Trails Day is an opportunity for the local community to be stewards of the trail system they love so much. We wouldn’t have such an amazing trail system if it wasn’t for our committed local partners and volunteers.” “One facet of National Trails Day is that it’s important to teach volunteers how to build sustainable trails. Once you learn what it takes to build a trail you become a more informed an d responsible trail user,” Prescott National Forest Trails and Wilderness Manager Jason Williams said.
