8 Prescott Pirates qualify for regional, state meet

CHANDLER— Jayden Long, Joshua Baillie and Renee Baillie of the Prescott Swim Team did well enough at the 2018 May Dayz Meet on April 28 and 29 in Chandler that they’ll be moving on to the Arizona Aquatic Swim state competition at the end of July in Phoenix.
Long, 12. qualified for state in four events, including the 50-meter freestyle and backstroke events, along with the 100 backstroke and 400 freestyle swims.
Joshua Baillie, 16, will compete at state in the 200 and 400 freestyle, and the 800 freestyle at sectionals.
Renee Baillie, 17, will compete at state in the 200 breaststroke and 100 backstroke events. She was also first in the 200 backstroke event in Chandler.
Other swimmers for the Pirates qualified for regional swim meets, including Sofy Zanolin, Avery Borghoff, Emma Crysler, Heath Tinsley, Juliana de Kort and Callie Oryall.
The Senior State Championships for ages 15 and older are scheduled for July 26-29 at Phoenix Country Day School, while the age group state meet is July 19-22 in Oro Valley.
