Roadwork in Brief: Bashford Courts Alley, Willis and Cortez, Dexter Neighborhood, Granite Creek Dam and Rosser St.

Bashford Courts Alley, Willis and Cortez

The City of Prescott and Earth Resources Corporation are working on an infrastructure improvement project consisting of complete reconstruction and improvements of the alleys and parking lot behind the Bashford Courts Atrium Mall, and the intersection of Willis and Cortez streets to Montezuma Street. Once finished, the project will significantly improve stormwater drainage, provide upgraded water and sewer utilities, and increase overall safety and accessibility for the Bashford Courts parking lot. It is to be complete in late spring 2018. Be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, May 7-11.

LANDSCAPE installation will continue throughout the week at the intersection of Willis and Cortez streets.

STORM DRAIN — Crews will continue installing new storm drain in the Bashford Alley, between Cortez Street and the Bashford Courts parking lot. Portions of the alley may be closed while work is underway.

CONCRETE WORK — Crews will continue performing concrete work to install the new solid waste enclosure within the Bashford Courts parking lot next week. The solid waste bin in the Bashford Courts parking lot will be temporarily relocated while work is underway; 24-hour parking restrictions will be in place.

Dexter Neighborhood

The City of Prescott and Capital Improvements, LLC, are working on the Dexter Neighborhood. This project is part of an ongoing program to replace deteriorated and undersized main lines within the city utility system. Once complete, these upgrades will increase service reliability and main line capacity for the Dexter Neighborhood and surrounding areas. Project completion is scheduled for spring 2018. Be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, May 7-11.

FAIRGROUNDS AVENUE — Crews will continue installing new water main along Fairgrounds Avenue, from Gail Gardner Way to Schemmer Drive, throughout the week. Once water main installation is complete, crews will begin performing asphalt paving operations along Fairgrounds Avenue, which will be closed to through traffic in the work zone, however, personnel will accommodate access for local businesses and residents.

COMFORT AVENUE — Installation of new water main and water services along Comfort Avenue, from Lincoln Avenue to Campbell Street, is now complete; testing of the system is underway. Comfort Avenue will be temporarily open to through traffic; it remains an active work zone — use an alternate route if possible.

RUTH STREET — Crews will continue the process of tying the newly installed lateral service lines into private connections along Ruth Street from West Hillside Avenue to Whipple Street. Residents receiving cross-lot connections will be contacted by the contractor prior to any work. Ruth Street will be temporarily open to through traffic.

CONTINUING — Asphalt paving operations are now complete along Dameron Drive, from West Hillside Avenue to Whipple Street. Crews have finished installing lateral service lines along Dameron Drive from the Brannen Avenue intersection to Comfort Avenue. In addition, the process of tying the newly installed lateral service lines into private connections along Bird Street, from West Hillside Avenue to just north of West Merritt Avenue, is finished. Crews will continue hauling dirt to Sonora Drive throughout the week. Asphalt paving operations along Lincoln Avenue, from West Merritt Avenue to Whipple Street, and Campbell Street, from West Merritt Avenue to West Hillside Avenue, are now complete.

UTILITIES — The process of tying the newly installed lateral service lines into private connections has begun. Please be aware that temporary water shut offs will be required to perform this work. Affected businesses and residents will be notified at least 48-hours in advance.

Granite Creek Dam

The City of Prescott and Fann Contracting, Inc., are repairing the Granite Creek Dam at Watson Lake. The work will stabilize the existing 48-inch non-working valve with concrete, and remove and replace the leaking 36-inch valve, allowing the city to safely drain water for downstream management, and extend the life of the valve. Phase I began April 23, and is scheduled to be completed by the Memorial Day Holiday. Phase II will begin in fall 2018.

Underwater dive crews will be performing the installation of the metal slide gate this week in preparation for valve repair on Granite Creek Dam. Crews on the dry side of the dam will be installing a concrete anchor block for the outlet valve.

Be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, May 7-12. Lake users are asked to respect the work zone and take precautions near construction personnel and equipment accessing the dam and boat ramp; remain outside of the buoy line and outside of the marked area on the downstream side of the dam.

RAMP ACCESS — Crews will be staging materials and equipment in the parking lot of the south boat ramp at Watson Lake throughout the week.

The Watson Lake Parking Lot, the south boat ramp and the south parking lot trails will be partially closed. In addition, the south boat ramp will be closed to public access throughout the week.

89 Widening, Roundabout

The City of Prescott and Asphalt Paving & Supply, Inc., are working on a road and utility upgrade project along Highway 89. Improvements include the widening of 89, water and sewer utility upgrades, removing and replacing the existing asphalt, and construction of a new roundabout near the Phippen Museum. The project also includes a new parking area for access to the City’s Constellation Trail System. The project is scheduled for completion in spring 2018. Be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, May 7-12. One lane of traffic will remain open in both directions at all times, however, motorists are asked to please be aware of lane restrictions, reduced speeds, flaggers, and heavy equipment accessing the work zone.

HIGHWAY 89 — Crews will be performing miscellaneous clean-up operations, and installing landscape rock, signage, and guardrails throughout the week.

TRAILHEAD — The Constellation Trailhead parking lot will not be accessible this week. Trail users are asked to park in the Phippen Museum parking lot. The museum is open during construction activities; access changes on a day-to-day basis.

Rosser Street

The City of Prescott and Asphalt Paving & Supply, Inc., are working on a road and infrastructure reconstruction project along Rosser Street. Once complete, this project will relieve stormwater runoff in areas surrounding the detention basin and provide a smoother, quieter ride for road users. The project is scheduled to be complete this summer. Be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, May 7-11.

EAGLE RIDGE ROAD — Valley gutter removal and installation at the intersection of Eagle Ridge Road and Rosser Street will continue throughout the week. Eagle Ridge Road will be closed to through traffic at Rosser Street.

ROSSER STREET — The second segment of road reconstruction along Rosser Street, from Piping Rock Road to Prescott View Place, will continue with crews grading the roadway throughout the week.

CONCRETE — Crews will continue replacing concrete sidewalks, driveway entrances, handicap ramps, and curb and gutter along Rosser Street from Piping Rock Road to Prescott View Place. This work will occur on an as-needed basis.

Sidewalk Repairs

The City of Prescott and Asphalt Paving & Supply, Inc., are scheduled to begin a sidewalk improvement project this week. Improvements are as needed at various locations throughout Prescott. The project is scheduled to be complete this summer.

Starting Monday, crews will begin sidewalk repair operations as needed along: East Sheldon Street, East Gurley Street, North Montezuma Street, North Pleasant Street, and Cortez Street. Be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, May 7-11.

Pavement Preservation

The City of Prescott and VSS International, Inc., are working on a pavement preservation project along selected roadways throughout the Prescott area. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2018.

Be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, May 7-12. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times.

Preservation work this week will be performed along Willow Lake Road and Country Club Drive.

Pavement repairs will be performed as needed in Cliff Rose, Frisco Peaks, Meadowbrook, Willow Lake Villas, the Ranch at Willow Creek, Panorama Drive, Fairview Lane, and Downer Trail.

ACCESS — On-street parking will be limited from time to time within the construction zones with “No Parking” signage posted 24 hours in advance of any parking restrictions. Vehicles parked on the street when “No Parking” restrictions are in place will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Rehabilitation

The City of Prescott and Asphalt Paving & Supply, Inc., are scheduled to begin a pavement rehabilitation project along selected roadways throughout the Prescott area. Once complete, the improvements will extend pavement life and improve the driving surface for motorists well into the future. The project is scheduled for completion this summer.

Starting Monday, crews will be mobilizing equipment and beginning asphalt paving operations along Schemmer Drive and Fairgrounds Avenue. Be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, May 7-12. Fairgrounds and Schemmer will be closed to through traffic in the work zone.
