A special perk to being an award-winning artist at the Phippen Museum’s Memorial weekend art show and sale is also being invited into the Museum’s Small Art to Go event Saturday evening, May 5.
It celebrates the Phippen Award Winners (PAW) and features the incredible art of western artists from the past three outdoor shows at the Yavapai County Courthouse.
Museum members may attend the Members’ Preview and Opening Reception scheduled at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, May 5, with free admission; guests tickets available for $10 each.
This year, 31 outstanding, western artists will participate. Beginning Saturday, May 5, the Phippen will present this outstanding collection of reasonably priced western art in their James Gallery.
“But this show and sale is different from similar events at the museum because art buyers will be allowed to take their artwork home immediately after purchase,” said Edd Kellerman, Marketing and Communications officer for the Phippen, in the press release.
“Normally, these pieces would continue to remain on display until the conclusion of the event.”
Big Daddy E’s Smokin’ Barbeque is catering the event, and several participating artists will be on hand to discuss their work.
This year’s PAWs Western artists include Kathy Quick Anderson, Steve Atkinson, Jeanne Bonine, Mary Ann Cherry, Dane Chinnock, Valerie Coe, Bill Cramer, Lydia Dillon-Sutton, David Dorsey, Randy Galloway, Al Glann, Robert Goldman, Tim Harmon, June Payne Hart, Heather Johnson Beary, Lisa Johnson-McLoughlin, Valeriy Kagounkin, Patsy Lindamood, Dale G Martin, Julie Nighswonger, Kim Seyesnem Obrzut, Sarah Phippen, Don Rantz, Joseph Robertson, Diana Simpson, Sam Thiewes, Charles Thomas, Echo Ukrainetz and V. Vaughan.
“The event promises to be another popular Prescott tradition,” Kellerman said. These pieces of museum quality fine art will also be displayed on the museum’s website during the show. The artists’ proven skills and expertise means their pieces are destined to sell quickly.
The Phippen Museum is located at 4701 Highway 89. The 44th Annual Western Art Show & Sale takes place Memorial Day weekend, May 26-28. For additional information, call 928-778-1385, or visit the website at www.phippenartmuseum.org.
