Local high school seniors celebrated their academic achievement at a dinner hosted by the Prescott Sunrise Lions Club. Since 1962, Prescott Sunrise Lions have sponsored what is known as the “4.0 Honors Celebration.” On Wednesday, Feb. 28, extraordinary seniors from Prescott (32), Bradshaw (32) & Chino Valley (7) High Schools celebrated their hard work. This is the first time in the 56-year history of the event that all three high schools were joined together.
Over 200 attended the gala at the Rowle P. Simmons Adult Center where proud parents, superintendents, principals and school board presidents from each school along with Sunrise Lions Club members shared a meal and their experiences of achieving a 4.0+ grade point average.
County Supervisor Jack Smith provided an inspirational speech regarding his personal journey overcoming obstacles encountered with a message of perseverance and continued achievement in having a quality life and positive impacts in their community.
The event was sponsored by the Prescott Sunrise Lions, the Prescott Valley Early Bird Lions and the Chino Valley Lions Clubs through various community fundraising activities.
