Editor:
I thought I had gotten used to the constant drumbeat of anti-Trump vitriol masquerading as thoughtful criticism. But today I felt motivated to write this letter after reading three such screeds in a single issue of the Courier; one from a syndicated columnist, and two letters to the editor from locals. The subjects ranged from gun control to the usual ad hominem attacks on Trump’s character and fitness for office. One persistent criticism seems to be Trump’s narcissism. This one makes me laugh when I think about Obama jutting his chin out during some of his public appearances in the manner of an infamous dictator whose first name was Benito, together with Obama’s multitude of executive actions when he couldn’t get his way with Congress. Who is really the dictator here?
Trump may have some narcissistic tendencies, but he has accomplished some major items in his first year, including major tax breaks putting more money into most pockets, fewer regulations, a new Supreme Court justice, and several lower federal judges. All of this in the face of a non-relenting media and a phony investigation.
