Virginia Ann Bristow

In loving memory of Virginia Ann Bristow

Virginia Ann Bristow, age 84, died June 23, 2018, suddenly after surviving open-heart surgery. Mom was the most spectacular women and kept our Family together with pure Love.

Virginia Ann Duncan was born in Prescott, Arizona, to L.O. Duncan and Louise Sturdevant Duncan. Virginia went to her Heavenly home after complications with open-heart surgery.

Virginia met the love of her life, Fred Bristow, through a blind date. They were married on April 28, 1951, and were happily married for 56 years. Mom was dedicated to her family and her children, Fred, Dale and Alice. Mom graduated from the first nursing class at Yavapai College. She went on to be an LPN and a Physical Therapy Tech at Yavapai Medical Center, retiring in 1978. She was a lifelong resident of Prescott. Mom was always helping others. She worked at the Pioneer Home providing countless hours and assisting with monetary gifts for the residents by having garage sales. She continued this long enough that they built a shed to allow people to drop off clothes, household needs and everything that garage sales provide. She organized the yard sales to raise money for the residents’ activities. She did this for over 30 years.

When Dad and Mom retired, they took many trips, whether in Alaska, Colorado, Mexico, Montana, Ohio or Michigan, enjoying each other’s company and met good friends along the trail. But somehow they always ended up fishing. Thanks, Dad - of course Mom canned the fish.

Mom was very proud of her family and always enjoyed family gatherings. She always had a box of toys for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mom was an avid traveler. At the age of 82, she and several of her friends traveled to Europe and cruised down the Rhine river.

Mom and Dad were Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus to many children in the tri-city area and Montana. They started this in 1980 and continued for over 25 years. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, L.O. Duncan and Louise Duncan; her husband, Fred Bristow; her brother, Les Duncan; and her grandson, Josh Bristow.

Virginia is survived by her sons and daughter-in law, Fred (Vicki) Bristow, Dale Bristow; and daughter and son-in-law, Alice (Mike) Meyer; grandchildren, Wayne (Heather), Jessica (Bo), Cassidy, Kyle, Kelsey, Maggie and Isaac; and her great-grandchildren, Caleb, Bentley, Emma, Baylee, Teeghan, Dane and Everly. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 28, at 11 a.m., performed at Prescott United Methodist Church, 505 West Gurley Street, Prescott Arizona, 86301-3617.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Yavapai Humane Society. Mom was our rock; we love you and we will miss you!
