PRESCOTT VALLEY — The 2018 Bradshaw Mountain sports camps have already started, but school officials are still welcoming signups.

Several camps are being offered and parents can register up to the day the camp starts. Camps are for incoming students in third through eighth grade. The camps are designed to introduce a new sport to students or develop skills for sports they already play.

Girls volleyball starts on July 9 and runs through July 12. Co-ed soccer camp will run from July 23 through July 27, and again from July 30 through Aug. 3. Closing out the sports camp season will be a co-ed football camp focused on kicking, punting and snapping that runs from July 6 to July 7.

Athletic Director Tony Miller, states, “These camps are so important for our younger students. It is an opportunity to start at a young age, third grade, and learn from older students.

“Our high school athletes help to coach the younger students, which gives the athletes a chance to interact with younger kids in a different capacity as mentors. The athletes learn how to teach the sport they love to kids that may have never had the opportunity to play. Students are learning the skills they need while having fun and possibly being coached by their future high school athletic coaches.”

Miller added, “This builds the high school athletics program in two ways. First, we bring our own young students up with the practice and skills needed so that when they reach the high school they have played the sports being offered and they get to know the coaches. Secondly, the camp fees also help the athletic program by bringing in much needed funds to the BMHS athletics program. These fees help to pay for new uniforms, new equipment and helps to pay for summer tournaments around the state.”

For specific times and locations for the camps please visit the Humboldt Unified School District website at humboldtunified.com under the news section of the homepage or call the BMHS Athletic Office at 928-759-4126. Forms for camp registration can also be found on the district website.
