Deane Brown

Deane Brown, age 90, died peacefully May 6, 2018. He was a winter resident of Phoenix and a summer resident of Prescott.

Deane was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vergene. He is survived by children, Bonnie (Larry) Oleksa and Jeffry (Rosanne) Brown; grandchildren, Aaron Brown, Faith Brown, Allison (Dale) Case, Jeremy (Becky) Oleksa; great-grandchildren, Vincent Abeyta, Elayna Brown, Revan Oleksa, Talia Case; brothers, Kenneth Brown and Richard Brown.

Deane served in the Army in 1945-49 and again in 1950. He worked as a Motion Picture Projectionist in Centerville, Iowa, and managed theatres in Iowa, Nebraska, Indiana and Illinois. He managed shows with Country Music Stars on tour for several years before moving to Arizona in 1958, where he established a tax preparation business, which he operated until his retirement in 2017.

Many people knew Deane as “the guy that sits on his porch with his little dog and waves to me on my way home from work,” and who sold the best tomato plants at the beginning of summer.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 23, at The Vineyard North Phoenix Church, 6250 West Peoria, Glendale, Arizona, at 10 a.m. Service in the Middle School Auditorium with parking on south side. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Deane’s name may be given to the United Christian Youth Camp, 1400 Paradise Valley Road, Prescott, AZ 86303.
