Roadwork in Brief: Bashford Courts Alley, Willis & Cortez Street, Rosser Street, pavement rehabilitation and more

Bashford Courts Alley, Willis & Cortez Street

The City of Prescott and Earth Resources Corporation are working on an infrastructure improvement project in downtown Prescott, consisting of complete reconstruction and improvements of the alleys and parking lot behind the Bashford Courts Atrium Mall, and the intersection of Willis and Cortez streets to Montezuma Street. The project is scheduled to be complete in late spring 2018.

BASHFORD COURTS — New light poles within the Bashford Courts parking lot have been installed. With this work finished, crews will be performing miscellaneous clean-up activities throughout the week. Impacts: from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 18-22. Road users are asked to follow marked signage, respect the work zone, and take precaution when near construction personnel and equipment.

Rosser Street

The City of Prescott and Asphalt Paving & Supply, Inc., are working on a road and infrastructure reconstruction project along Rosser Street, consisting of removing and replacing the existing paved surface with new asphalt pavement and reconstruction of a detention basin at the corner of West Rosser Street and Campbell Avenue, among other work. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2018.

ROSSER STREET — The third segment of road reconstruction along Rosser Street, from Prescott View Place to Campbell Avenue, moves forward as crews have completed asphalt milling operations and excavating the existing roadway. Impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, June 18-23. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times, however, motorists may encounter lane restrictions, reduced speeds, rough conditions, and flagging operations throughout the work zone.

CONCRETE WORK — Crews will continue replacing concrete sidewalks, driveway entrances, handicap ramps, and curb and gutter as needed along Rosser Street from Prescott View Place to Campbell Avenue. In addition, crews will continue installing manholes and storm drain for the detention basin at the southeast corner of Rosser Street and Campbell Avenue. Impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, June 18-23. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times, however, motorists may encounter lane restrictions, reduced speeds, rough road conditions, and flagging operations throughout the work zone.

Pavement Rehabilitation

The City of Prescott and Asphalt Paving & Supply, Inc., are working on a pavement rehabilitation project along selected roadways throughout the Prescott area. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2018.

WILLOW CREEK ROAD — Asphalt paving operations along Willow Creek Road, from Mitchell Road to Willow Lake Road, are now complete. With this work finished, crews will be striping the roadway and raising utility covers to the finished road grade over the next two weeks. Impacts: from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, June 17-28. One lane of traffic will remain open in both directions at all times, however, motorists are asked to be aware of lane restrictions, reduced speeds, and flagging operations throughout the work zone.

89 Widening and Roundabout

The City of Prescott and Asphalt Paving & Supply, Inc., are working on a road and utility upgrade project along Highway 89. The project limits include 89 between the 89A/Pioneer Parkway interchange and Granite Dells. The project is scheduled for completion in spring 2018.

HIGHWAY 89 — Miscellaneous clean-up activities will continue along 89, between the 89A/Pioneer Parkway interchange and Granite Dells, throughout the week. Impacts: from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, June 18-23. One lane of traffic will remain open in both directions at all times, however, motorists are asked to please be aware of lane restrictions, reduced speeds, flaggers, and heavy equipment accessing the work zone.

TRAILHEAD ACCESS — The Constellation Trailhead parking lot is now fully accessible. Trail users are asked to follow marked signage, respect the work zone, and take precaution when hiking near construction personnel and equipment.

MUSEUM ACCESS — The Phippen Museum is open during construction activities, however, access to the museum changes on a day-to-day basis. Museum visitors are asked to follow the marked signage, respect the work zone, and take precaution when near construction personnel and equipment.

Pavement Preservation

The City of Prescott and VSS International, Inc., are working on a pavement preservation project along selected roadways throughout the Prescott area. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2018.

PAVEMENT WORK — Asphalt pavement preservation work has been completed throughout multiple work zones within the City of Prescott. With this work finished, crews will be performing miscellaneous clean-up activities throughout the work zones over the next two weeks. Impacts: from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, June 18-30. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times, however, motorists may encounter lane restrictions, and reduced speeds while driving through the project area. Crews will work to maintain traffic flow, but due to the nature of the work, motorists should expect delays. Please remain alert for flaggers in the work zone, and allow for extra time to get through this area.

PARKING AND ACCESS — On-street parking will be limited from time to time within the construction zones with “No Parking” signage posted 24 hours in advance of any parking restrictions. Vehicles parked on the street when “No Parking” restrictions are in place will be towed at the owner’s expense. Affected businesses and residents will be notified in writing at least 48-hours in advance of any street parking and access restrictions.

Dexter Neighborhood

The City of Prescott and Capital Improvements, LLC, are working on a road and utility upgrade project along select streets in the Dexter Neighborhood. Project completion is scheduled for spring 2018.

SONORA DRIVE — Installation of new water main along Sonora Drive is now complete. With this work finished, crews will be testing the system throughout the week. Impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 18-22. Sonora Drive will be temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that this is an active work zone and to be aware of rough roads, heavy equipment, and to use an alternate route if possible.

RUTH STREET — Crews have completed the process of tying the newly installed lateral service lines into private connections along Ruth Street from West Hillside Avenue to Whipple Street. Impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 18-22. Ruth Street will be temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that this is an active work zone and to be aware of rough roads, heavy equipment, and to use an alternate route if possible.

COMFORT AVENUE — In preparation for asphalt paving, crews will continue removing the existing asphalt and preparing the subgrade along Comfort Avenue, from Lincoln Avenue to Campbell Street, throughout the week. Impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 18-22. Comfort Avenue will be closed to through traffic in the work zone, however, personnel will accommodate access for local businesses and residents. Please remain alert for parking restrictions, reduced speeds, rough roads, and flaggers in the work zone.

BIRD STREET — In preparation for asphalt paving, crews will continue removing the existing asphalt and preparing the subgrade along Bird Street, from West Hillside Avenue to just north of West Merritt Avenue, throughout the week. Impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 18-22. Bird Street will be closed to through traffic in the work zone, however, personnel will accommodate access for residents. Please remain alert for reduced speeds, rough roads, and flaggers in the work zone.

LINCOLN AVENUE — The process of tying the newly installed lateral service lines into private connections along Lincoln Avenue, from Home Street to Whipple Street, will continue throughout the week. Residents receiving cross-lot connections will be contacted by the contractor prior to any construction activities on the property. Impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 18-22. Lincoln Avenue will be temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that this is an active work zone and to be aware of rough roads, heavy equipment, and to use an alternate route if possible.

DAMERON DRIVE & CAMPBELL STREET —Asphalt paving operations are now complete along Dameron Drive, from West Hillside Avenue to Whipple Street, and along Campbell Street, from West Merritt Avenue to West Hillside Avenue. With this work complete, crews will be performing water service connection work throughout the week. Impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 18-22. Dameron Drive and Campbell Street will be temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that this is an active work zone and to be aware of rough roads, heavy equipment, and to use an alternate route if possible.

UTILITIES — The process of tying the newly installed lateral service lines into private connections has begun. Please be aware that temporary water shut offs will be required to perform this work. Affected businesses and residents will be notified at least 48-hours in advance of any temporary utility interruptions.

Hassayampa Village Lane

The City of Prescott and the Hassayampa Village Community Facilities District No. 2 have partnered to improve the intersection of Hassayampa Village Lane at Thumb Butte Road. The project is scheduled for completion in early summer 2018.

ROADWAY IMPROVEMENTS — Crews have completed performing concrete work and asphalt paving operations along Hassayampa Village Lane at the intersection of Thumb Butte Road. With this work finished, crews will be performing landscape activities throughout the week. Impacts: from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 18-22. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times, however, due to the nature of the work, motorists should expect delays and are advised to use Copper Basin Road as an alternate route. Please remain alert for reduced speeds and flaggers in the work zone.

Sidewalk Repairs

The City of Prescott and Asphalt Paving & Supply, Inc., are working on a sidewalk improvement project. Improvements include the replacement of concrete sidewalks, curbs, driveway entrances, and handicap ramps as needed at various locations throughout Prescott. Once complete, this project will increase pedestrian safety and extend the life of the sidewalks into the foreseeable future. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2018.

WORK CONTINUES — Crews will continue sidewalk repair operations as needed along North Summit Avenue, Granite Street, South Cortez Street, and South Montezuma Street. Impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 18-22. Affected sidewalks will be closed in the work zone. Please follow the marked detour signage to get through the area.
