Prescott seeks applicants for boards, commissions
The City Council Subcommittee for Appointments is accepting applications for citizens who are interested in serving on boards, commissions or committees.
“Appointment terms vary depending on the type of BCC,” a city news release states. “Appointments will be made in July 2018.”
The openings include:
• Advisory and Appeals Board – term through March 2021.
• Fire Board of Appeals – term through March 2019.
• Industrial Development Authority, two positions – one term through March 2021, and another through March 2024.
• Tourism Advisory Committee – term through March 2020.
The news release states that while members on the Advisory & Appeals Board, the Fire Board of Appeals, and the Industrial Development Authority must be residents of the City of Prescott, there is no Prescott residency requirement for the Tourism Advisory Committee.
The release adds that the Tourism Advisory Committee requires a representative actively working within the hospitality industry in area, and the Advisory and Appeals Board requires representation with expertise in: building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing.
“Boards, commissions and committees provide opportunities for citizens to take an active role in their local government,” states the news release. “Members are appointed by the Mayor and/or City Council. If there are more applicants than seats, the City Council Subcommittee for Appointments will review applications and sometimes conduct interviews with candidates in order to make recommendations to the City Council for appointment.”
Applications are due to the city by Friday, June 29.
