Roadwork in Brief: Rosser, Dexter Neighborhood, Pavement Rehabilitation and more

Rosser Street

The City of Prescott and Asphalt Paving & Supply, Inc., are working on a road and infrastructure reconstruction project along Rosser Street. The project consists of removing and replacing the existing paved surface with new asphalt pavement and reconstruction of a detention basin at the corner of West Rosser Street and Campbell Avenue. Additionally, new sidewalk, curb and gutter, and driveway entrances will be replaced as needed. The project extents include Rosser Street from Campbell Avenue to just east of Eagle View Drive.

The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2018. Please be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, June 11-16.

ROSSER STREET – The third segment of road reconstruction along Rosser Street, from Prescott View Place to Campbell Avenue, moves forward as crews have completed asphalt milling operations and excavated the existing roadway.

One lane of traffic will remain open at all times, however, motorists may encounter lane restrictions, reduced speeds, rough road conditions, and flagging operations throughout the work zone.

CONCRETE WORK – Crews will continue replacing concrete sidewalks, driveway entrances, handicap ramps, and curb and gutter along Rosser Street from Prescott View Place to Campbell Avenue. In addition, crews will begin working on the concrete spillway for the detention basin at the corner of Rosser Street and Campbell Avenue. This work will occur on an as-needed basis.

One lane of traffic will remain open at all times, however, motorists may encounter lane restrictions.

Dexter Neighborhood

The City of Prescott and Capital Improvements, LLC, are working on a road and utility upgrade project along select streets in the Dexter Neighborhood. The project consists of replacing undersized water and sewer main lines, road improvements, and installing new water service connections for residents. In addition to this work, curb and gutter, sidewalk, and driveway replacements will be performed as needed.

Project completion is scheduled for spring 2018.

BIRD STREET AND WEST HILLSIDE AVENUE - Crews are set to tie-in the newly installed water main on Bird Street into the existing utility system on West Hillside Avenue. This work will require a temporary water shut off for approximately four hours. Businesses and residents affected by the temporary shut off will be notified 48-hours in advance.

Please be aware of the following impacts: from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m. Tuesday, June 12.Please draw enough water to accommodate your water needs during this temporary shut off period.

COMFORT AVENUE - Installation of new concrete curb and gutter along Comfort Avenue is now complete. With this work finished, crews will begin removing the existing asphalt and preparing the subgrade along Comfort Avenue, from Lincoln Avenue to Campbell Street, throughout the week.

Please be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 11-15.

Comfort Avenue will be closed to through traffic in the work zone, however, personnel will accommodate access for local businesses and residents.

SONORA DRIVE – Installation of new water main along Sonora Drive is now complete. With this work finished, crews will be testing the system throughout the week. 

Please be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 11-15.

Sonora Drive will be temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that this is an active work zone and to be aware of rough roads, heavy equipment, and to use an alternate route if possible.

RUTH STREET – Crews have completed the process of tying the newly installed lateral service lines into private connections along Ruth Street from West Hillside Avenue to Whipple Street.

Please be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 11-15.

Ruth Street will be temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that this is an active work zone and to be aware of rough roads, heavy equipment, and to use an alternate route if possible.

BIRD STREET – In preparation for asphalt paving operations, crews will continue removing the existing asphalt and preparing the subgrade along Bird Street from West Hillside Avenue to just north of West Merritt Avenue.

Please be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 11-15.

Bird Street will be closed to through traffic in the work zone, however, personnel will accommodate access for residents.

LINCOLN AVENUE – The process of tying the newly installed lateral service lines into private connections along Lincoln Avenue, from Home Street to Whipple Street, is set to begin. Residents receiving cross-lot connections will be contacted by the contractor prior to any construction activities on the property.

Please be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 11-15.

Lincoln Avenue will be temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that this is an active work zone and to be aware of rough roads, heavy equipment, and to use an alternate route if possible.

DAMERON DRIVE AND CAMPBELL STREET - Paving operations are now complete along Dameron Drive, from West Hillside Avenue to Whipple Street. Crews will now be performing water service connection work throughout the week. Asphalt paving operations along Campbell Street, from West Merritt Avenue to West Hillside Avenue, are now complete.

Please be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 11-15.

Dameron Drive and Campbell Street will be temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that this is an active work zone and to be aware of rough roads, heavy equipment, and to use an alternate route if possible.

INTERRUPTIONS – The process of tying the newly installed lateral service lines into private connections has begun. Please be aware that temporary water shut offs will be required to perform this work. Affected businesses and residents will be notified at least 48-hours in advance of any temporary utility interruptions.

Bashford Courts Alley & Willis Street and Cortez

The City of Prescott and Earth Resources Corporation are working on an infrastructure improvement project in downtown Prescott. The project is scheduled to be complete in late spring 2018.

LIGHT POLE INSTALLATION – With the project nearing completion, crews will be installing light poles within the Bashford Court parking lot throughout the week.

Please be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 11-15.

Portions of the Bashford Alley and Willis Alley may be closed while work is underway. Downtown road users are asked to follow marked signage, respect the work zone, and take precaution when near construction personnel and equipment. Minor parking restrictions may be in place within the Bashford Courts parking lot. 

Pavement Rehabilitation

The City of Prescott and Asphalt Paving & Supply, Inc., are working on a pavement rehabilitation project along selected roadways throughout the Prescott area. Improvements include the removal and replacement of existing pavement, crack sealing, and the restoration of disturbed traffic striping. Additional work includes replacing handicap ramps, and curb and gutter as needed. Once complete, these improvements will extend pavement life and improve the driving surface for motorists well into the future. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2018.

WILLOW CREEK ROAD – Crews have completed installing new concrete as needed along Willow Creek Road, from Mitchell Road to Willow Lake Road.

Starting Sunday night, June 10, crews will begin asphalt paving operations, from Mitchell Road to Willow Lake Road. Please be aware of the following impacts: Sunday through Friday, June 10-15.

Work will occur throughout all times of the day, however, traffic control will be adjusted to accommodate for rush hour traffic. Please be aware of lane restrictions, reduced speeds, rough road conditions, and flagging operations throughout the work zone. One lane of traffic will remain open in both directions, however, motorists should allow for extra time to get through the area and use an alternate route if possible.

89 Widening and Roundabout

The City of Prescott and Asphalt Paving & Supply, Inc., are working on a road and utility upgrade project along Highway 89. Once complete, this project will increase traffic flow by widening the existing two-lane roadway to four lanes, enhance road user safety, and upgrade utilities that serve the Prescott community. The project is scheduled for completion in spring 2018.

CLEAN-UP ACTIVITIES – Miscellaneous clean-up activities will continue along 89, between the 89A/Pioneer Parkway interchange and Granite Dells, throughout the week. Please be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, June 11-16.

One lane of traffic will remain open in both directions at all times, however, motorists are asked to please be aware of lane restrictions, reduced speeds, flaggers, and heavy equipment accessing the work zone.

CONSTELLATION TRAILHEAD - The Constellation Trailhead parking lot is now fully accessible. Trail users are asked to follow marked signage, respect the work zone, and take precaution when hiking near construction personnel and equipment.

MUSEUM - The Phippen Museum is open during construction activities, however, access to the museum changes on a day-to-day basis. Museum visitors are asked to follow the marked signage, respect the work zone, and take precaution when near construction personnel and equipment. 

Pavement Preservation

The City of Prescott and VSS International, Inc., are working on a pavement preservation project along selected roadways throughout the Prescott area. Improvements include crack sealing, sealcoating (slurry, chip seal and microseal), restoration of handicap ramps, and curb and gutter as needed. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2018.

Asphalt pavement preservation work will continue along multiple work zones next week. Work will be performed as needed within the Lakeside Vista and Cloudstone communities. With pavement preservation work nearly complete, crews will begin performing miscellaneous clean-up activities throughout the work zones.

Please be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, June 11-16.

One lane of traffic will remain open at all times, however, motorists may encounter lane restrictions, and reduced speeds while driving through the project area. Crews will work to maintain traffic flow, but due to the nature of the work, motorists should expect delays. Please remain alert for flaggers in the work zone, and allow for extra time to get through this area.

PARKING AND ACCESS – On-street parking will be limited from time to time within the construction zones with “No Parking” signage posted 24 hours in advance of any parking restrictions. Vehicles parked on the street when “No Parking” restrictions are in place will be towed at the owner’s expense. Affected businesses and residents will be notified in writing at least 48-hours in advance of any street parking and access restrictions.

Sidewalk Repairs

The City of Prescott and Asphalt Paving & Supply, Inc., are working on a sidewalk improvement project. Improvements include the replacement of concrete sidewalks, curbs, driveway entrances, and handicap ramps as needed at various locations throughout Prescott. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2018.

Crews will continue sidewalk repair operations as needed along North Summit Avenue, Granite Street, South Cortez Street, and South Montezuma Street. Please be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 11-15. Affected sidewalks will be closed in the work zone. Please follow the marked detour signage to get through the area. 

Hassayampa Village Lane

The City of Prescott and the Hassayampa Village Community Facilities District No. 2 have partnered to improve the intersection of Hassayampa Village Lane at Thumb Butte Road. Improvements include removing and replacing the existing asphalt pavement, concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter, and landscape median and landscaping. The project is scheduled for completion in early summer 2018.

Crews have completed performing concrete work and asphalt paving operations along Hassayampa Village Lane at the intersection of Thumb Butte Road. With this work finished, crews will be performing landscape activities throughout the week.

Please be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 11-15.

One lane of traffic will remain open at all times, however, due to the nature of the work, motorists should expect delays and are advised to use Copper Basin Road as an alternate route. Please remain alert for reduced speeds and flaggers in the work zone.
