Suspected fatal overdose in PV results in two arrests; investigation continues
Two young men have been arrested in Prescott Valley after the suspected drug overdose of 18-year-old Jared Friederick, according to Prescott Valley Police Department (PVPD) officials.
Friederick was found not breathing and without a pulse on the floor of a residence in the 8400 block of East Leigh Drive of Prescott Valley by PVPD officers shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday, June 7, according to a news release.
The officers immediately conducted appropriate first aid procedures until a Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority crew arrived and took over medical treatment. Friederick was transported to the Yavapai Regional Medical Center campus in Prescott Valley, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
An investigation at the residence indicated that the use of illegal drugs was possibly responsible for Friederick’s death. The Partners Against Narcotic Trafficking (PANT) Task Force was called to the scene and took over the investigation.
As a result of the investigation, Rick Alexander Arellano, 18, and Lester James Suter, 18, were arrested and charged with multiple charges including possession of narcotics for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia, both felonies. Both men were booked into the Yavapai County jail. The investigation is continuing.
“If you’re aware of any possible violations of drug use, you are encouraged to immediately contact law enforcement,” said PVPD spokesperson Jerry Ferguson.
