Prescott Athletic Hall of Fame announces 2018 inductees

Howard, Middlemore, Folger and 1990-91 girls basketball team to be honored Sept. 7

PRESCOTT — The Prescott athletic department and its Hall of Fame committee officially announced that Nathan Howard, John Middlemore, Eric Folger and the 1990-91 girls basketball team will be inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame in September.

The Prescott Athletic Hall of Fame’s newest members are scheduled to be honored at a ceremony prior to the Friday, Sept. 7, home football game against Deer Valley.

Howard led Prescott boys soccer from 1998 to 2000, playing under coaches Chris Sagar and Tony Sciacca. During his senior season, Howard scored 24 goals, five of which came in one game, and was selected to the Desert Sky All-Region team. He was an all-state selection in the Arizona Soccer Coaches Association.

Middlemore had a two-year run for the Badgers’ basketball team under coach Rich Geske from 1991 to 1993, averaging 19 points and 11 rebounds per game his senior season. He was an all-state selection that season.

As for Folger, the former Prescott football standout played for the Badgers from 1999-2001 for coach Lou Beneitone. His senior year, Folger made was named a first-team All-Region performer at center and second team defensive lineman.

The 1990-91 Prescott girls basketball team finished with a 21-4 record and was a runner up at the 4A conference state tournament. Members of the team include Heidi Wilhelm, Brandy Frank, Carrie Kellie, Heather True, Tracy Rainwater, Deahna Thomas, Heather O’Connor, Paige Pickert, Nicki Onnen, Kristy Shelstad, Maria Schoepner, Jennifer Dalton and Brenda Foster.

HALL OF FAME HISTORY

The Prescott Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 1977 with the motto of, “Leadership, Excellence and Tradition.” Former Prescott student and teacher Eddie Villiborghi began the Hall of Fame and continues to serve on the committee to this day. The rest of the committee is made up of 15 longtime Prescott residents, many current and former teachers, coaches, students and employees.
