The Chino Valley Unified School District’s first day of school is Monday, Aug. 6, and to prepare, the Chino Valley Police Department has released a traffic plan to facilitate and expedite traffic at certain schools.

The first day of school generally means increased traffic in the area of the schools, according to a release from the Chino Valley Police Department. As such, the department strongly encourages parents to allow their children to ride the bus even on the first day.

“If you choose to drop your child off at Del Rio Elementary or Heritage Middle School, we encourage you to approach from the north utilizing Road 1 West from Perkinsville Road or Road 3 North as we have prevented most northbound access to the schools on the first day,” the release states. “Only right turns to travel north will be permitted when exiting the parking lot at Territorial Early Childhood Center.”

In order to ensure constant traffic flow and to reduce congestion, movement and traffic patterns will be restricted on Monday from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m.

The changes include no left turns out of any parking lots on any campus, no left turns into Del Rio Elementary School’s parking lot with busses being the only exception and northbound traffic looking to access Del Rio Elementary School must turn left into Heritage Middle school and go through the parking lot before heading south on Road 1 West. All parking lot traffic at Del Rio and Heritage must make a right turn upon exiting and go to Road 2 North, all parking lot traffic at Territorial must turn right when exiting and go to Perkinsville road, only southbound traffic may access Del Rio’s parking and drop off lot and no parking in drop off lanes at Heritage and Del Rio. Also, no parking or stopping on dirt shoulders outside of school areas.

Uniformed officers will assist with traffic control in the area. However, officers will not be authorized to issue warnings for parking violations during the first two weeks of school.
