Roadwork in Brief: Rosser Street, Robinson Drive, Dexter Neighborhood and more

Rosser Street

The City of Prescott and their contractor, Asphalt Paving & Supply, Inc., are currently working on a road and infrastructure reconstruction project along Rosser Street. The project consists of removing and replacing the existing paved surface with new asphalt pavement and reconstruction of a detention basin at the corner of West Rosser Street and Campbell Avenue. Additionally, new sidewalk, curb and gutter, and driveway entrances will be replaced as needed. The project extents include Rosser Street from Campbell Avenue to just east of Eagle View Drive.

Once complete, this project will relieve stormwater runoff in areas surrounding the detention basin and provide a smoother, quieter ride for road users. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2018.

Minor construction: With the final layer of asphalt pavement installed along the project corridor, crews will be raising utility covers back to the finished road grade and performing minor cleanup activities throughout the week. In addition to this work, grading operations will continue in the detention basin at the southwest corner of Rosser Street and Campbell Avenue. Please be aware of the following impacts: From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 30, through Friday, Aug. 3, one lane of traffic will remain open at all times, however, motorists may encounter lane restrictions, reduced speeds, and flagging operations throughout the work zone.

Robinson Drive

The City of Prescott and their contractor, Capital Improvements, LLC, have begun a roadway reconstruction project along Robinson Drive. The project consists of full road removal and replacement of Robinson Drive from East Gurley Street to the city limit at the intersection of Canyon Drive East. Additional work includes the replacement of aged water and sewer lines, drainage improvements, and installation of concrete sidewalks, and curb and gutter as needed. Once complete, this project will enhance the drainage capabilities in the improved areas, upgrade the utilities that serve the Prescott community, and provide a smoother ride for motorists well into the future. This project is scheduled for completion in summer 2019.

New sewer main: Crews will be trenching the roadway and installing new sewer main along Robinson Drive between East Gurley Street to just south of Stetson Drive throughout the week. Please be aware of the following impacts: From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 30, through Friday, Aug. 3, Robinson Drive will be closed to through traffic between East Gurley Street and Flatau Drive. Motorists are asked to follow the marked detour and please be aware of reduced speeds, flaggers, and heavy equipment accessing the work zone.

Street parking: To avoid any conflicts with construction equipment, and expedite completion of the project, the contractor asks that you avoid on-street parking while road construction is underway. Personnel will work with businesses and residents to maintain driveway access throughout the work zone. 

Dexter Neighborhood

The City of Prescott and their contractor, Capital Improvements, LLC, are currently working on a road and utility upgrade project along select streets in the Dexter Neighborhood. The project consists of replacing undersized water and sewer main lines, road improvements, and installing new water service connections for residents. In addition to this work, curb and gutter, sidewalk, and driveway replacements will be performed as needed.

This project is part of an ongoing program to replace deteriorated and undersized main lines within the City utility system. Once complete, these upgrades will increase service reliability and main line capacity for the Dexter Neighborhood and surrounding areas. Project completion is scheduled for spring 2018.

Paving operations: Crews will continue preparing the subgrade and laying aggregate base course along Sonora Drive in advance of chip sealing operations. Please be aware of the following impacts: From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 30, through Friday, Aug. 3, Sonora Drive will be temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that this is an active work zone and to be aware of heavy equipment, flagging operations, and to use an alternate route if possible.

Asphalt paving: Crews will be removing the existing roadway and performing asphalt paving operations along Dameron Drive, from Comfort Avenue to the Brannen Avenue intersection, throughout the week. In addition, crews will be installing concrete sidewalks, and curb and gutter. Please be aware of the following impacts: From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 30, through Friday, Aug. 3, Dameron Drive will be closed to through traffic in the work zone, however, personnel will accommodate access for local businesses and residents. Please remain alert for reduced speeds, rough roads, and flaggers in the work zone.

Utility installation: The process of tying the newly installed lateral service lines into private connections along Campbell Avenue, from Madison Avenue to Sonora Drive, will continue throughout the week. Residents receiving cross-lot connections will be contacted by the contractor prior to any construction activities on the property.

Please be aware of the following impacts: From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 30, through Friday, Aug. 3, Campbell Avenue will be temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that this is an active work zone and to be aware of rough roads, heavy equipment, and to use an alternate route if possible.

Concrete work: Crews will be performing concrete driveway replacements as needed along Comfort Avenue, from Lincoln Avenue to Campbell Street.

Please be aware of the following impacts: From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 30, through Friday, Aug. 3, Comfort Avenue will be temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that this is an active work zone and to be aware of heavy equipment, flagging operations, and to use an alternate route if possible.

The process of tying the newly installed lateral service lines into private connections along Lincoln Avenue, from Home Street to Whipple Street, will continue throughout the week. Residents receiving cross-lot connections will be contacted by the contractor prior to any construction activities on the property. In addition, crews will be installing new concrete driveway entrances and curb and gutter, from Home Street to Comfort Avenue.

Please be aware of the following impacts: From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 30, through Friday, Aug. 3, Lincoln Avenue will be temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that this is an active work zone and to be aware of heavy equipment, flagging operations, and to use an alternate route if possible.

Work zones: Crews have finished performing asphalt paving operations along Bird Street, from West Hillside Avenue to just north of West Merritt Avenue. In addition, crews have completed the process of tying the newly installed lateral service lines into private connections along Ruth Street from West Hillside Avenue to Whipple Street.

Please be aware of the following impacts: From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 30, through Friday, Aug. 3, Bird Street and Ruth Street will be temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that these are active work zones and to be aware of heavy equipment, flagging operations, and to use an alternate route if possible.

Utility service interruptions: The process of tying the newly installed lateral service lines into private connections has begun. Please be aware that temporary water shut offs will be required to perform this work. Affected businesses and residents will be notified at least 48-hours in advance of any temporary utility interruptions.
