Letter: No mine

Editor:

I live in the beautiful community of Skull Valley for the past 21 years. I am very concerned for my community and for my good neighbors. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management is considering allowing Kirkland Mining Company President Areta Zouvas to open in Kirkland a Pozzolan Mine.

This mine will allow a very few people to make a buck, but will destroy our beautiful community. My good neighbors that live adjacent to this area will have their paradise ruined by the noise, the dust, the use of thousands of gallons of water, and the loss of real estate value.

Iron Springs Road from Prescott to Kirkland will no longer be a beautiful ride, but will have approximately 80 dump trucks driving back and forth every day. Just this year two people have been killed on this road.

Please good people of Yavapai County help. This mine cannot be allowed to destroy our community.
