TAD Management is bringing the music of artists like Ricky Nelson, Dion and Paul Anka to Prescott in its “Teen Idols” show this weekend at the Elks Theatre and Performing Arts Center.
The show stars Mark Preston who said he’s actually a teen idol himself.
“I’m formerly from a group called The Lettermen,” he said. “We were the original boy band back in the day and now I’m a teen idol.”
It’s enjoyable to sing the songs from his old contemporaries, Preston said, noting he’s been singing for a number of years and that kind of music has always been a part of his show. It’ll include all the classics from such artists as Paul Anka, Neil Diamond, Dion, Bobby Vee and Connie Francis. There will be a lot of Lettermen stuff too, Preston said. He’s also got something special planned that he hopes to be able to do, but said he wanted to keep it a surprise.
The show begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 28. Tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors and $30 for opera box seats and can be purchased online at www.prescottelkstheatre.com, by calling 928-777-1370 or at the door one hour prior to the performance.
Preston said his favorite part of the show is being able to relive his years with The Lettermen. Along with all the other music, he has a seven-minute tribute to the group.
“It’s obviously a tribute to the music of my contemporaries,” he said. “To actually be in the show is an added bonus.”
The Elks Theatre and Performing Arts Center is located at 117 E. Gurley St.
