Prescott Night Out is bringing another comedy night to Los Pinos Mexican Restaurant due to popular demand, according to organizer San Martin Rodriguez.
Once again, the show has Armando Placencia of Phoenix as the host with Jonathan Gregory headlining. Other comedians include Iesha Renee as the night’s featured comedian as well as Luis Alvarez and Geof Piccarreta. It’s bigger than the last show which is the whole idea he’s going for, Rodriguez said.
“Every time a show comes here, we’re going to want to bring a bigger and bigger heavy hitter,” he siad. “We’re working up to basically try to get out and rent out the Elks Theatre and put a national act in there.”
The doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m.. Saturday, July 28, at Los Pinos Mexican Restaurant, 1245 White Spar Road. Tickets are $10 at the door. The show is for ages 18 and up. The show in June sold out, Rodriguez said.
Placencia, known as “Mondoman” is a Phoenix local who has worked with many nationally known comedians and toured comedy clubs throughout the southwest. He’s also a friend of Gabriel Iglesias, Rodriguez said.
Additionally, Gregory was featured on “America’s Got Talent” and is known to be different and funny while Renee won this year’s award for “Arizona’s Funniest Comedian With a Day Job competition. Known for high energy and having the audience in tears from the beginning of her performance to its end.
The July 28 show isn’t the only comedy show Rodriguez is putting together in the coming days. He’s also got a show happening on Saturday, Aug. 11 featuring the national touring act of DJ Nonstop. If the July 28 show sells out, that’s an alternative, Rodriguez said.
“If it sells out again, no worries,” he said. “We’ll have another comedy show over at Tony’s Too out in Prescott Valley.”
