The Peavine Trail suffered extensive damage from a storm Wednesday night, July 18, closing portions such as the Sundog Trailhead indefinitely.

The City of Prescott is assessing the damage this morning, with no word yet on dollar costs or amount of rain that went through the area.

An old railroad bridge from the 1880s was washed out.

The Peavine Trail was developed through a Rails-to-Trails effort. In the late 1990s, the Peavine was an abandoned rail bed, littered with rotted railroad ties. Through municipal costs and thousands of volunteer hours, it was developed as part of the area's trail system.
