Sam T. Aiton, Jr.

Sam T. Aiton, Jr., was born May 13, 1931, in Dewey, Arizona, to parents, Sam Turner Sr. and Jewell Kate Aiton. Sam passed away peacefully on July 6, 2018, in Scottsdale, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by the “love of his life,” wife Janet (Lou) Aiton. He leaves behind four children: daughter, Pamela (Aiton) Hampton and sons, Sam Aiton III, Levi Aiton and Toby Aiton. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Sam was a man with many skills and interests in which he always gave 100%. In his earlier years he was a bullrider, baseball player and coach. He was also an avid horse racing enthusiast. He worked for the City of Prescott Athletic Dept. most of his years while living in Prescott. Sam was a referee at many baseball and basketball games. At one time, he was part of a softball team that flew and played in New Zealand. He was the Starter at Prescott Downs in the late ‘60s. After retirement and moving to Phoenix, Sam acquired a few race horses of his own. He enjoyed time spent at Turf Paradise. Sam T. Aiton Jr. will be dearly missed and never forgotten. As he was not a man of pomp and circumstance, there will be no services.
