Roadwork in Brief: Rosser Street, Dexter neighborhood and sidewalk improvements

Rosser Street

The City of Prescott and their contractor, Asphalt Paving & Supply, Inc., are currently working on a road and infrastructure reconstruction project along Rosser Street. The project consists of removing and replacing the existing paved surface with new asphalt pavement and reconstruction of a detention basin at the corner of West Rosser Street and Campbell Avenue. Additionally, new sidewalk, curb and gutter, and driveway entrances will be replaced as needed. The project extents include Rosser Street from Campbell Avenue to just east of Eagle View Drive.

 Once complete, this project will relieve stormwater runoff in areas surrounding the detention basin and provide a smoother, quieter ride for road users. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2018.

Roadway reconstruction: The third segment of road reconstruction along Rosser Street, from Prescott View Place to the Campbell Avenue intersection, moves forward as crews have completed asphalt milling and paving operations at the intersection of Rosser Street and Campbell Avenue. Crews will return at a later date to install the final layer of asphalt pavement along the entire project corridor. Please be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 9, through Saturday, July 14, one lane of traffic will remain open at all times, however, motorists may encounter lane restrictions, reduced speeds, rough road conditions, and flagging operations throughout the work zone. Motorists should allow for extra time to get through the area and use an alternate route if possible.

Concrete work: Crews will continue performing concrete work for the detention basin at the southeast corner of Rosser Street and Campbell Avenue. Please be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 9, through Saturday, July 14, one lane of traffic will remain open at all times, however, motorists may encounter lane restrictions, reduced speeds, rough road conditions, and flagging operations throughout the work zone. 

Dexter Neighborhood

The City of Prescott and their contractor, Capital Improvements, LLC, are currently working on a road and utility upgrade project along select streets in the Dexter Neighborhood. The project consists of replacing undersized water and sewer main lines, road improvements, and installing new water service connections for residents. In addition to this work, curb and gutter, sidewalk, and driveway replacements will be performed as needed.

This project is part of an ongoing program to replace deteriorated and undersized main lines within the City utility system. Once complete, these upgrades will increase service reliability and main line capacity for the Dexter Neighborhood and surrounding areas. Project completion is scheduled for spring 2018.

Laying aggregate base: With new water main installed along Sonora Drive, crews will continue testing the system throughout the week. In addition, crews will begin preparing the subgrade and laying aggregate base course in advance of chip sealing operations. Please be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 9, through Friday, July 13, Sonora Drive will be temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that this is an active work zone and to be aware of heavy equipment, flagging operations, and to use an alternate route if possible.rough roads, and flaggers in the work zone.

Asphalt paving: Crews will be removing the existing roadway and performing asphalt paving operations along Dameron Drive, from Comfort Avenue to the Brannen Avenue intersection, throughout the week. In addition, crews will begin installing concrete sidewalks, and curb and gutter. Please be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 9, through Friday, July 13, Dameron Drive will be closed to through traffic in the work zone, however, personnel will accommodate access for local businesses and residents. Please remain alert for reduced speeds,

Utility installation: The process of tying the newly installed lateral service lines into private connections along Campbell Avenue, from Madison Avenue to Sonora Drive, will continue throughout the week. Residents receiving cross-lot connections will be contacted by the contractor prior to any construction activities on the property. Please be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 9, through Friday, July 13, Campbell Avenue will be temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that this is an active work zone and to be aware of rough roads, heavy equipment, and to use an alternate route if possible.

Driveway replacements: Crews have finished performing asphalt paving operations along Comfort Avenue, from Lincoln Avenue to Campbell Street. With this work complete, crews will be performing concrete driveway replacements as needed. Please be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 9, through Friday, July 13, Comfort Avenue will be temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that this is an active work zone and to be aware of heavy equipment, flagging operations, and to use an alternate route if possible.

Utility installation: The process of tying the newly installed lateral service lines into private connections along Lincoln Avenue, from Home Street to Whipple Street, will continue throughout the week. Residents receiving cross-lot connections will be contacted by the contractor prior to any construction activities on the property. In addition, crews will be installing new concrete curb and gutter from Home Street to Comfort Avenue throughout the week. Please be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 9, through Friday, July 13, Lincoln Avenue will be temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that this is an active work zone and to be aware of heavy equipment, flagging operations, and to use an alternate route if possible. Construction: Crews have finished performing asphalt paving operations along Bird Street, from West Hillside Avenue to just north of West Merritt Avenue. In addition, crews have completed the process of tying the newly installed lateral service lines into private connections along Ruth Street from West Hillside Avenue to Whipple Street. Please be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 9, through Friday, July 13, Bird Street and Ruth Street will be temporarily open to through traffic, however, motorists are reminded that this is an active work zone and to be aware of rough roads, heavy equipment, flagging operations, and to use an alternate route if possible.

Utility service interruption: The process of tying the newly installed lateral service lines into private connections has begun. Please be aware that temporary water shut offs will be required to perform this work. Affected businesses and residents will be notified at least 48-hours in advance of any temporary utility interruptions.

Sidewalk Improvement

The City of Prescott and their contractor, Asphalt Paving & Supply, Inc., are currently working on a sidewalk improvement project. Improvements include the replacement of concrete sidewalks, curbs, driveway entrances, and handicap ramps as needed at various locations throughout Prescott. Once complete, this project will increase pedestrian safety and extend the life of the sidewalks into the foreseeable future. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2018.

Crews will continue sidewalk repair operations as needed along Granite Street throughout the week. Please be aware of the following impacts: from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 9, through Friday, July 13, Affected sidewalks will be closed in the work zone. Please follow the marked detour signage to get through the area.
